  On Wednesday 15 September 2010 we hosted our fourth Asia financial institutions sector CPD day at our Hong Kong office. This one day conference comprised seven training sessions, focusing on a range of topical legal issues relevant to financial institutions in Asia.   Revisions to the Japanese Patent Law, including changes to the registration system for non exclusive licences, were enacted in 2008. The date of enforcement for the major parts of the revised law is 01 April 2009.

  On 29 June 2005, the Japanese Diet approved controversial new legislation which could require foreign companies, including certain banks and SPVs, currently incorporated outside Japan but which conduct most of their business in Japan and/or have a branch in Japan, to reincorporate in Japan.
